If you thought July was hot, August is even hotter. Since you’ll have the windows down anyways, how about some nice tunes that will flow out as that rare summer breeze rolls in? Below are some great songs for the month of August.

1. The Luyas: Fifty Fifty

The beginning of this track is sort of haunting, as it builds up to what you expect will be an overpowering vocal only to hear a nice quiet voice on the other side. A really great blend of soft vocals, a great percussion beat, and the occasional violin. This is really cool.

2. Tall Ships: Gallop

“Gallop” is the most appropriate way to describe this track, as you hear the galloping beat of the drums in this coming of age ballad of a 20-something year old. Not only is the beat great, but the lyrics are some of the best I’ve heard in a while.

3. The Babies: Moonlight Mile

This track by The Babies starts strong and continues strong throughout the duration. I’m loving the angelic background vocals with the harsh guitar and lead voice. A solid summer track for all tastes.

4. Black Moth Super Rainbow: Windshield Smasher

This track from BMSR is a great mix of media, and has a sort of dreamy rock feel to it until the cymbals chime in and wake up the neighborhood. A really strange, but intriguing track.

5. Ringo Deathstarr: Rip

This Austin-based band really knows how to blend hard rock with light vocals. It’s like the vocals are the breeze and the strong riffs are the sun’s rays beating down on you. A really cool song from a great Texas band.
